The Magic You'll Learn
Complement Method
Using base numbers magically
Rounding Trick
Make numbers disappear & reappear!
Number Splitting
Split numbers for easy subtraction
Magic Secret
In Vedic Math, subtraction is often easier than addition! We just need to know the right tricks.
Trick 1: The Complement Method
Using Base Numbers from Week 2 & 3
"Subtract from the base, then add the complement!"
Magical Example: 1000 - 387
Find complement of 387 from 1000
Use the Nikhilam Sutra:
• Subtract each digit from 9
• Subtract last digit from 10
Calculate: 9-3=6, 9-8=1, 10-7=3
Answer: 613
Magical Result: 1000 - 387 = 613
= 613
Trick 2: The Rounding Method
Make Numbers Disappear & Reappear!
"Round the subtracted number, then adjust the answer!"
Magical Example: 543 - 298
298 is close to 300 (2 less)
Round: 543 - 300 = 243
We subtracted 2 extra (300-298=2)
Add back the extra: 243 + 2 = 245
Magical Result: 543 - 298 = 245
= 543 - 300 + 2
= 243 + 2
= 245
Magic Rule
When rounding UP for subtraction, ADD back the difference!
Trick 3: Number Splitting Magic
Split Numbers Like a Magician!
"Split numbers into parts that are easy to subtract!"
Magical Example: 87 - 39
Split 87 into 80 and 7
Split 39 into 30 and 9
Subtract tens: 80 - 30 = 50
Subtract ones: 7 - 9 = -2
Combine: 50 - 2 = 48
Magical Result: 87 - 39 = 48
= (80 + 7) - (30 + 9)
= (80 - 30) + (7 - 9)
= 50 + (-2)
= 48
